An exciting new opportunity has arisen within our independent coffee shop and general store in Peckham.
Well & Fed is a specialty coffee shop where wellbeing and food come together to connect people and inspire them to eat and live consciously. Going back to basics, our food is natural and wholesome, sustainably sourced and meat-free.
We have been growing our reputation of having the best speciality coffee in Peckham, coupled with healthy and delicious take out food, as we slowly work towards offering our community more options in the coming months.
Despite these unprecedented times, well&fed is going from strength to strength and we are now looking for an experienced Barista-extraordinaire with the capabilities of working in a small team of two or independently, to carry out a generalist role.
We have big plans for the rest of this unusual year. However, we need your help to carry them all out. Your role would include, but not be limited to:
Providing excellent customer service and care
Incredible attitude to health, safety and food hygiene – going the extra mile when necessary
Producing amazing coffee from bean to cup – including being fully experienced with a range of digital grinders and la Marzocco linea range of espresso machines
Having excellent organisational skills and understanding of good service work-flow when managing a range of made-in-store produce (smoothies, juices, iced drinks)
Being enthusiastic to learn our food menus and undertake training to be able to do prep on shift
Learning our values and products to be a spokesperson for the business
Be available to work weekends, holidays and flexibly across the week for opening or closing shifts
We take the wellbeing and health of both our customers and employees very seriously, so the right candidate is going to be up to date and conscious of current health & safety protocols surrounding COVID-19; as well as being ready and willing to adhere to our specific policy tailored to our unique little shop during these times.
Due to the nature of our current business operations, we will organise an initial video interview between 3-5pm on a week day and a follow up in person interview within the same time period to avoid clashing with service hours. It’s imperative at this moment in time that the ideal candidate is located in or around South East London and is able to commute to the business without the need for extensive public transport; ideally by cycling or on foot. We will assess this on a person by person basis.
If you are interested in joining the team and think that you’d be a great fit for us please email Daniel on [email protected], attaching your most up to date CV with a selection of photos of your latte art and a short answer to the following questions:
What is good customer service to you and how do you approach promoting products and produce?
Please elaborate on your personal level of expertise and understanding of espresso theory (don’t overthink it, just talk through your process and your quality assurance for every espresso)
How do you ensure that you are an inclusive and respectful member of the team, use personal experiences if comfortable?
If you have any personal needs within the interview process please let us know in your initial email so we can accommodate accordingly, likewise if you have any questions about the role that could be unique to yourself please feel free drop that in also.
